What is a No Claim Discount (NCD) and how do I get it?

      Written by Majed Abdulaal

      Updated June 3rd, 2026

A No Claim Discount (NCD) is a form of reward that you (the policyholder) get from your insurance company for not making a claim on your policy during a full insurance year. This discount is mandated by the UAE Central Bank. This means that by law, you’re entitled to this discount when you do not make any claims.

While the exact discount will depend on the insurance company, most of them will base it on your claims history during your recent driving history. In other words: The longer you’re insured without making claims, the greater the discount you’ll get. You can get an NCD certificate from your current or previous insurance company.
